Cosigner Rules
The cosigner is super important when bonding someone out of jail. Their role is to guarantee the defendant’s court attendance and then, if they can’t, they are agreeing to pay the bond in full upon demand. Obviously, they have to be able to do both.
THERE COULD BE SERIOUS CIVIL AND CRIMINAL LIABILITIES FOR FRAUD IF YOU LIE ON A BAIL BONDS APPLICATION. Tell us the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth and we’ll find a way to help.
There’s some simple rules for cosigning a bond with my company –
#1 – KNOW THE DEFENDANT. If you recently met (or have never met) this person, you cannot cosign.
#2 – SEE THE DEFENDANT OFTEN. If you never interact with them, you won’t be able to find them if they miss court.
#3 – STABLE RELATIONSHIP. If your relationship with the defendant is volatile, we’ll need a different cosigner.
#4 – STABLE, VERIFIABLE INCOME & ASSETS. You’re working or getting a check. You have a lease or mortgage, own a car, have some money in the bank.
If you don’t meet those requirements, call us anyways and be honest about it. We’ll help you find a solution and track down family or close friends who can help.
